Return Policy

We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it: unworn or unused, with all original tags attached, and in its original packaging. You will also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Note on Handmade Items: As many of our products are handcrafted, slight variations in color, pattern, or texture are natural characteristics of the artisan process and are not considered defects.
How to Start a Return
To start a return, please contact us at info@theafricanmarketplace.mu.
- Please include your Order Number and clear photos of the item you wish to return.
- If your return is accepted, we will send you instructions on how and where to send your package.
- Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Return Delivery Fees (Mauritius)
- Defective or Incorrect Items: If the return is due to a mistake on our part (e.g., damaged, defective, or the wrong item sent), The African Marketplace Co. LTD. will cover the return delivery costs or arrange a pickup.
- Change of Mind / Exchanges: For all other returns (e.g., change of mind or choosing a different size), the customer is responsible for the return shipping fees.
- Original Shipping: Please note that original delivery fees paid at the time of purchase are non-refundable.
Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon reception.
- For perishable goods or food items, you must contact us within 24 hours of delivery if there is an issue.
- For all other items, contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / Non-Returnable Items
Certain types of items cannot be returned:
- Perishable goods (such as food, snacks, or vegetables).
- Personal care goods (such as beauty products, oils, soaps, general body products) for hygiene reasons.
- Sale items and Gift Cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
